1. The Ghosts of Oatman Hotel
Distance from Zuni Village RV Campground: 32 miles
Directions: Head northwest on I-40 for 25 miles, then take exit 44 toward Oatman-Topock Highway. Follow Oatman Road to 181 Main St, Oatman, AZ, United States, Arizona.
The Oatman Hotel, built in 1902, is a historic landmark famous for its ghostly inhabitants and its delicious food! Stop in and the friendly staff will happily “scare up” a thick club sandwich and tasty macaroni salad. Then stick around to explore the purportedly haunted museum on the second floor. The most well-known spirits are reportedly those of actor Clark Gable and his wife, Carole Lombard, who honeymooned here. Some guests have claimed to see their spirits lingering in the room they stayed in, while others report hearing ghostly laughter, clinking glasses, and even footsteps in the night. Don’t be surprised if you feel a sudden chill as you climb the creaky stairs.

Directions: From the campground, take US-93 South for approximately 7 miles, then follow directions toward the canyon near Kingman’s outskirts.
Slaughterhouse Canyon, also known as Luna’s Canyon, has a legend dating back to the 1800s. The tragic tale revolves around a mother who, unable to provide for her children, went mad and ended their lives. It’s said that on quiet nights, you can still hear the wails of the mother and her children echoing through the canyon. For those brave enough, a sunset hike offers an eerie atmosphere. Just be sure to leave before dark!
