It’s the ho-ho-holiday season and visitors to the Zuni Village RV Park have a sleighful of choices to help celebrate. While it may not necessarily be a white Christmas, historic Kingman, Arizona will be filled with festive cheer and lots of twinkling holiday lights to make the holiday merry and bright! The Kingman Christmas lights parade and downtown businesses will be blazing this December as the “Very Merry Christmas Lights” display takes place downtown on Beale Street. Brilliant displays of stationary decorated floats are presented and available as both a drive-thru and walk-thru event. Each year the event carries a special theme. In 2021, locals and visitors alike will enjoy “Christmas Miracle on Beale Street” and the featured special guest, the great jolly elf himself!
Christmas Comes for Everyone in Kingman
The Kingman Light Display has grown since its inception, with this year’s event garnering over 34 participants for the lighting display. While the ongoing pandemic has changed the organization of the event, many folks welcomed the changes, such as the drive-thru availability, as it allowed them to remain safer and include older members of the family who may otherwise have been left out. Standing and walking along the sidewalks in the cold had been the only option.
For the display, local businesses and individuals decorate vehicles and businesses with Christmas lights and other decorations to make a stationary Christmas light display throughout downtown Kingman. The Kingman Cultural Council and Kingman Downtown Business Association host this annual event to raise money for the Kingman High School Band and Kingman Museum Education Fund in addition to filling folks with the holiday spirit.
Kris Kringle Comes to Kingman
The light display is also when everyone gets together with their family and friends to celebrate jolly ol’ St. Nick himself! Santa Claus has been known to visit Kingman during this wonderful time of year, so if you’re strolling through downtown Kingman then be sure that you look into every store window and you might just see his castle sleigh on display inside one of them! Santa himself will be present at the event as he visits the tree lighting ceremony at Locomotive Park.
Spectators not only get to enjoy the lights, but will play a large part in judging Merchant Window Contest. Visitors can cast their votes right on their phones with the Everything Kingman Arizona app. The top prize of $500 goes to the merriest merchant display of all. Spectators will also vote for the People’s Choice Award, best-lit group, and the best-lit float.
