A Historic Site
Hualapai Mountain Park (pronounced “Wah-lah-pie”) is an Arizona State Park that has something for everyone. Named by a local Native American Tribe from a word meaning “People of the Tall Pines” in the late 1800s, the park was redeveloped in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps under President Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal program, giving it the roads, camp sites, pavilions, hiking trails, and recreation areas that we’re still using today.
A conveniently located, must-see attraction
Just under a 25 minute drive from many of the RV parks in Kingman, AZ, including the Zuni Village RV Park, spending a day a Hualapai Mountain park provides so many attractions you’ll find it hard to leave at the end of the day.
Here are some of our favorite things to do at Hualapai:
- Hike Hualapai — 16 miles of both developed and undeveloped trails (14 total), ranging in elevations. The trails range in elevation from 4984 to 8417 feet, across 2300 acres, so you’ll find various levels of difficulty to suit everyone in your family.
- Pull out those binoculars — Get those binoculars ready, because you’ll see granite rock formations, various different types of trees including those namesake Ponderosa and Pinion Pines, as well as elk, mule deer, racoons, foxes, squirrels, chipmunks, and even skunks. Bird lovers will enjoy finding hawks, owls, and Golden Eagles.
- Enjoy Picture Perfect Views of Nature — Pull out your cameras, because Hualapai provides the perfect views of nature with desert below and mountain ranges all around, It’s a great spot to just enjoy your time unplugged with family, or get some amazing photo ops.
- Have a Picnic or Event — Hualapai provides a variety of different recreation areas, with ranges, picnic tables, and even playground equipment. The park has accommodations or go off the beaten path and lay out a blanket for a nature inspired picnic.
- Play Disc Golf — Hualapai Park boasts a championship style 18-hole disc golf or frisbee golf course and has hosted tournaments as well. This can provide hours of entertainment for amateurs to pros, they just ask that you look around for the safety of other visitors before you throw.
