One of our favorite attractions near Zuni Village RV Park is the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. We’re so lucky that Lake Mead, Arizona is located so close to our RV campground! It is known as one of the most diverse national recreation area in America. It’s a great place to go when you’re staying at our RV park. It is an amazing place for boating, hiking, cycling, camping, and fishing. The setting for all these activities is breathtakingly picturesque. There are broad expanses of open water with gorgeous mountains looming in the background. You can waterski, kayak, or canoe. If you’re not a fan of going out on the water, you can enjoy the scenery from a shaded picnic area complete with tables and fire grills. Animal enthusiasts will be excited to learn that Lake Mead National Recreation Area is home to desert bighorn sheep, mountain lions, and huge numbers of bats. You might even see a desert tortoise! Birdwatchers should be on the lookout for the more than 240 types of birds that call the area home, including bald eagles and a variety of water and shore birds.
If you visit the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, make sure to follow the necessary safety precautions. If you go hiking, make sure to carry plenty of water – at least a half-gallon per person. Never hike alone and make sure someone knows where you plan to go and when you plan to return. Do not over-exert yourself and choose a route that suits your abilities. If you’re planning to go out on a boat, always wear a life jacket and follow all posted rules.
